Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging

Our commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) is how we remain accountable to our people, projects, and the future of the life sciences industry.

We strive to cultivate an environment where teammates know that their voices, professional experiences, and life stories matter and add tremendous value to the longevity and betterment of our workforce.

BPM is committed to integrating diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging into everything we do.

From how we provide our services to how we build our workforce, we embrace diversity in all its forms, including race, ethnicity, gender (including sex stereotyping and gender identity or expression), sexual orientation, age, background, perspective, religious affiliation, culture, and experience.

We strive to take the broadest possible view of diversity, valuing the visible and invisible qualities that make each of us unique. We welcome every person who brings a unique perspective and experience to advance our mission.

Increasing diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging is the job of the entire team and is at the core of our company’s strategy and commitment.

At BPM Associates, we believe in the power of extraordinary people working together in a great environment to accomplish important, lasting change.

This is our Core Purpose, supported by additional Core Values of People First, Relationships Matter, and Service to a Greater Cause. We know that living up to our Core Purpose and Core Values is possible when we commit to creating and sustaining a workplace that is truly diverse, equitable, and inclusive so that all feel a sense of belonging.

In 2019, as part of Vision 2020, included objectives for intentionally creating the people-centered culture we wanted to create.

Uprisings of summer 2020: Leadership team sought education and read books such as How to be Antiracist by Ibram X. Kindi and White Fragility by Robin D’Angelo.

Accelerated our Journey in 2021: Engaged Tapestry Solutions for Inclusion LLC. Assessed our individual and organizational knowledge and attitudes toward DEIB. Each of us used our personalized assessment to map out a plan for us to improve our own knowledge. BPM leadership used the organizational assessment to work with Tapestry on a plan to improve our company.

DEIB Strategy: In 2021, the entire staff completed Strategy Beyond Training, a Tapestry workshop designed to develop a DEIB Strategy. The strategy includes many elements and started with an assessment of fifteen dimensions of our company, from leadership and communications, to learning and development, to marketing and customer service.

The journey continues… in alignment with our core purpose, core values, and the DEIB strategy

Laid the foundation for effective operation of our DEIB journey: Driving the strategy, accountable leadership, intentional structure, and clear planning

Updated our Learning and Development Program to include foundational training and ongoing development

Enhanced Marketing and Customer Service to ensure we are integrating DEIB into our external messaging to clients and potential staff

Added DEIB as one of our core values because putting people first means everyone is included and everyone feels like they belong.

In addition to required and recommended training, we encourage folks to go beyond the baseline. Each month, an employee facilitates a DEIB topic at our staff meetings.
